It’s a changing and challenging world out there. Until recent times, simply riding the wave of a surging economy was enough to ensure success.
Today, the goalposts have shifted. Success requires a fresh, dynamic approach — one that balances:
- logic and innovation
- focus and vision
- reflection and forward thinking
CPA Congress will provide you with opportunities to improve and update your core skills, while broadening your horizons so that you can tackle the challenges ahead. Here are highlights of what’s new at CPA Congresses around Australia in 2008:
‘On the couch with Alex Malley’ interview keynotes
In Andrew Denton style, Alex Malley, president of CPA Australia, interviews some of Australia’s most recognisable business, sport and community personalities. Be a fly on the wall during candid discussions between Alex and Australia’s cream of the crop as they share their stories and secrets to success.
International perspectives on global issues
The recent movements in the global economy have certainly made their mark on our shores, highlighting the importance of learning from international lessons on this issue and many others. Experts from the US, The Netherlands and Singapore share their thoughts on the emerging challenges that will shape our region, the business landscape and your profession in the near future.
Extended insight sessions and master classes
For some topics, an hour session is simply not long enough. We are proud to bring you the ‘Extended insights’ series — two-hour sessions that delve deeper into the practicalities of issues that are important to you. There is also a greater choice of half-day master classes, which focus on practical tools and solutions. Check out your CPA Congress 2008 brochure for more information.
And of course, don’t forget to keep checking in with CPA Congress online. Connect and exchange your ideas, and let us know what is important to you.

I am Anne Mirtschin, a teacher in a small P12 rural school in country Western Victoria. I teach year 12 accounting and each year we have a year 12 VCE camp where we bring similar small schools together to provide them with experiences that they may not get in their normal classroom. They go to Ballarat University. I am wondering whether you or any personnel you know would be willing to talk to these students over skype or elluminate (videoconferencing software or virtual classroom software) about the use of blogs, second life and other web2.0 tools in accounting or talk about the role of accountant. The camp is next week and the sessions are Wed or Thurs for 50 mins. If you are interested or could help us out, please email me at mirtschin@gmail.com Thank you for reading this.
