Paul, congratulations to you and the team for pulling off a high quality seminar that punched above our weight in terms of our relatively small membership in Europe. Good content, good venue, and a good opportunity for members and for councillors to meet and share experiences.

Here here! Never pass up the opportunity to focus on the now. "Be present" when working on any task be it work or personal life. By focusing in on the here and now you achieve more, feel better about yoursel (because you have acheived more) and are able to concentrate on acheiving your desired goals. Getting out of your comfort zone and trying something new to challenge and spice up the day is not a bad thing - we all get too comfortable in the well known. I have chosen a couple of sessions at CPA Congress in the NT that are outside my normal scope to challenge my thinking and try something new - why don't we all give it a go this Congress!

I'm looking forward to Congress in Darwin! The sessions over some dynamic and topical issues, and some very interesting key speakers including Denis Mackenzie and David De Garis to mention only a couple. Everyone should take advantage of attending congress, not just for the great sessions, but also for the networking available. I'm looking forward to catching up with eveyone in Darwin.

Paul,

I don't think there is a 'one size fits all'. America may have a double dip (if it is, in fact out of its current dip). I doubt Australia will have too many problems in the medium term and I think we really need to monitor what is happening in China and a lesser extent India to see how we will fare.

Hi Michelle, and thanks for your comment. Some call it a double dip, but to me it looks like a big W, hence the description - same outcome of course. You may also be interested in reading about Morgan Stanley's four stages of the typical secular bear market and its aftermath. If only the future was so predictable!

I hope you enjoy this year's Congress.

Hi Paul,

Interesting terminology "W Effect" I hadn't heard it before now. I thought I would leave a reply because your comments are quite thought provoking. Part of my role requires monitoring Foreign exchange movements and while I would not like to make a prediction about another downturn, I appear to be constantly waiting for it to occur, often finding myself saying "better do this now, just in case". So I guess I am actually in the second dip school of thought after all.

Thank you. Very informative and inspiring. If there is any further notes or emails to come I am happy to accept. Practice is the DNA to success and in future I will practice before I need to confront as it is something we dont do enough.
